
Biography
Rebecca R. Speer-Mathews is an Associate at Griswold, LaSalle, Cobb, Dowd & Gin, LLP, focusing on trial advocacy and legal research. She graduated from California State University, San Marcos, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a minor in Psychology in 2001.
Continuing her academic journey, Rebecca obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego in 2004. During her time at California Western, she was actively involved in the Moot Court team and participated in community outreach through Meals on Wheels. Additionally, she contributed to Crimes Against Children advocacy and served as a Civil Law mentor for first-year students.
Rebecca joined Griswold, LaSalle, Cobb, Dowd & Gin, LLP as an Associate in the summer of 2024 after retiring from the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office. Prior to this, she served her community as a Deputy District Attorney for Kings County.
Throughout her career, Rebecca has participated in over 50 jury trials bringing a wealth of knowledge and dedication to her practice. She is passionate about justice and trial work, committed to providing exceptional legal representation with professionalism and integrity.
Looking ahead, Rebecca is eager to practice in Civil Law, Family Law, and Criminal Law at the firm in the coming years.
