PURPOSE
The purpose of this scholarship is to ensure talented paralegals stay in the area and have successful careers at any Central Valley law firm. In addition to financial support, the scholarship allows an opportunity for the awardee to gain experience in the legal profession and develop skills through a paid internship.
This scholarship is funded by the Griswold LaSalle Community Foundation (the “Foundation”), a private 501(c)(3) foundation. It is run by a board consisting of employees who work at Griswold, LaSalle Cobb, Dowd & Gin LLP law firm.
Eligibility Requirements
- A resident of Kings, Tulare, or Fresno County with an interest in pursuing a paralegal career in the Central Valley
- Currently enrolled in and pursuing a paralegal certificate/degree at an institution consistent with Business and Professions Code section 6450(c)
- By the end of the Spring 2026 semester, you will have completed at least 24 semester units (or equivalent) towards your Paralegal degree/certificate
- Eligible and willing to work a full or part-time paid paralegal internship at the Griswold LaSalle law firm during the 2026 summer break.
Application Must Include
- Typed and completed Student Information Sheet
- Typed Written Response Sheet
- Current college transcripts – An official or unofficial transcript will be accepted as long as it is from the school registrar’s office. A “screenprint” will not be accepted.
- Current Resume (no work experience required)

Award Information
Interviews will be held in May 2026. The winner will be notified via email and phone on or before June 1, 2026. The winner will be awarded a full or part-time paid internship with Griswold LaSalle law firm during the summer of 2026 as well as a scholarship of $2,000 for the 2026-2027 school year. The scholarship will be awarded $1,000 for the fall semester and $1,000 for the spring semester. The recipient must show proof of enrollment of at least 12 units each semester consistent with receiving a paralegal certificate/degree at an institution consistent with Business and Professions Code section 6450(c) in order to receive the money. The award winner must be willing to allow the Foundation to announce his/her name, picture, and excerpts from the written response online and in other media.
