Welcoming Back!

After a summer spent deep in outlines, flashcards, and caffeine-fueled study sessions, we’re thrilled to welcome back Stacey Voss and Bailey Morrell! These two tackled the bar exam head-on, and while we all eagerly await their results, we’re excited to have them back in the office bringing their sharp minds, fresh perspectives, and familiar energy. We’re proud of all the hard work they’ve put in and can’t wait to see what’s ahead for them in this next chapter!

What’s New in California Law

California’s Hands-Free Law Clarified (June 2025 Court Decision)

Holding your phone while driving – even at a red light or in traffic – is now clearly prohibited.

Assembly Bill 2202 (Airbnb Hosts: Big Fines for Hidden Fees)

Hosts must disclose all cleaning and extra fees upfront – hidden fees can mean fines up to $10,000 per violation.

Assembly Bill 2863 (Easy Cancel for Subscriptions)

Businesses must make it as easy to cancel subscriptions as it is to sign up – and send annual reminders.

Assembly Bill 2375 (Drink Lids for Bars/Nightclubs)

Bars/nightclubs must offer drink lids on request and display notices about drink-spiking prevention.

Assembly Bill 2801 (New Photo Rules for Landlords)

Landlords must take photos of rental units before and after tenancy to prevent deposit disputes.

These are just a few of the new California laws now in effect – reach out to our team to learn how they could impact you.
