What’s New in California Law

Minimum Wage Increase

  • As of Jan. 1, 2026, the California state minimum wage will increase to $16.90 per hour for all employers, regardless of employee headcount. This also means that as of Jan. 1, 2026, exempt employees in California must be paid a minimum annual salary of $70,304.

Paid Family Leave for a Designated Person

  • SB 590 allows employees to use California Paid Family Leave to care for a seriously ill designated person.
Currently, the program provides up to eight weeks of partial pay for employees who care for seriously ill family members, bond with a new child, or handle certain military situations. This bill expands the definition of “family member” to include a designated person, someone related by blood or with a relationship similar to family.

Annual Christmas Windows

On December 5th, we celebrated the unveiling of our annual Christmas window display, a tradition we proudly host each year that brings a festive glow to our office and the community. This beloved tradition began with the Blue family when our building was Hanford Furniture, and we’re honored to carry it on today. In the spirit of giving, our Foundation also raised over $1,000 through its Naughty/Nice List and Christmas Ornament fundraiser. We truly appreciate our community’s support and look forward to it each year.
